Mapping pedagogical innovations within our alliance

The Circle U. Think and Do Tank engages with students and external stakeholders with the aim to influence the policy agenda on higher education.

At the same time, it very much focuses on its «do» mission and seeks to contribute to transforming curricula and teaching methods towards sustainable education within the alliance itself, not only by providing courses on sustainable development, but also by ensuring that education will have a major impact on the sustainability of our societies.

Sustainable education means finding innovative and creative ways of teaching and learning, focusing on interdisciplinary knowledge and taking into account the contribution of students. The Think and Do Tank will promote a quality learning environment and academic success for students by imagining, experimenting and disseminating new ways of teaching and learning.

Mapping of flagship initiatives in education

One of the first steps towards this transformation was to map flagship education initiatives carried out by our Circle U. communities. This mapping will pave the way for wider collaboration and sharing of good practice, which could lead to the expansion of these flagship initiatives to all Circle U. universities. To begin with, we consider innovation in sustainable education under four categories, the 4Is:

  • Integration of external stakeholders
  • Internationalization of education
  • Inter and trans-disciplinarity
  • Involvement of students

Building a network

The long-term objective of this mapping is not only to document Circle U.'s flagship initiatives but also to create the conditions for the establishment of a network on educational innovation in sustainable education.

If you are an academic or an admin staff from one of the Circle U. universities and you would like to add an initiative in the Mapping, please contact: circleu.iro@u-paris.fr

A first open meeting will take place with the framework of the Learning Planet Festival organised by the Learning Planet Institute at Université Paris Cité. Eight of the initiatives mapped will be presented by their leaders and exchange on good practices in the area of innovative teaching will follow.
