European Universities Initiative - towards a new university alliance

A group of seven research intensive universities has initiated a process towards establishing a new university alliance: Aarhus Universitet, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, King's College London, University of Belgrade, Université catholique de Louvain, University of Oslo and Université de Paris.

The participating universities declare their intention of preparing a joint proposal in response to the pilot calls by the European Commission for the European Universities Initiative (EUI).
The EUI it is one of the flagship initiatives of the EU’s ambitions to build a European Education Area. According to the European Commission, these transnational alliances will be the European universities of the future, promoting European values and identity, and revolutionizing the quality and competitiveness of European higher education.

The aim of the EUI is to bring together a new generation of creative Europeans, who are able to cooperate across languages, borders and disciplines to address the big societal challenges and skills shortages that Europe faces.

In the time to come, the consortium will start engaging their respective communities in the planning of collaborative projects within the new alliance.
