The Academic Chair Academy holds its inaugural meeting

On November 19, the Circle U. Chair Academy held its inaugural meeting. Academic Chairs from across the Circle U. alliance convened to discuss their vision and priorities for the Academy and share the innovative projects and collaborations which are underway or in the planning stages.

A forum for collaboration

The ultimate role of the Chair Academy will be to ensure that a thriving academic community is built around and re-enforces the work of all current Academic Chairs across the partner universities. The Academic Chair Academy will support the work of the Academic Chairs by providing a forum for collaboration, where Academic Chairs will share, discuss, evaluate, revise, and further develop the collaborative working models and methods of the Circle U. alliance.

The vision for the Chair Academy is to create an academic ecosystem, conceptualised as a web of collaborations across the universities and disciplines in Circle U. It will increase cooperation among the academic communities of the partner institutions, foster interdisciplinarity, leverage synergies, uptake opportunities to collaborate and initiate innovative research and education activities across the alliance.

What’s next for the Academy?

As Academic Chairs are appointed for two years and the number of Chairs will increase over time, the Academy will evolve as the alliance matures. The Chair Academy is committed to promoting and enhancing cross-thematic interaction and interdisciplinarity across the Circle U. alliance and externally.

The Academy will convene one general meeting per year, either in person or virtually, to share experiences and plan future activities, as well as becoming an active and interactive forum that shares experiences on a regular basis, organising cluster meetings, events and virtual exchanges via online platforms.
