The inaugural session of the European Student Assembly (ESA) took place on 3-4 March 2022 in Strasbourg, France. Lucas Cardoso da Silva (University of Oslo), Maxime Geerts (Université catholique de Louvain) and Katarina Tomašević (University of Belgrade) report.
On 25 March, the Management Board, with the support of Circle U. Student Union (CUSU), launched the process to reflect, discuss and design the future of Circle U. A first workshop dedicated to the mission and vision of Circle U. was organized in Brussels.
It was with a lot of enthusiasm that Circle U. held the official celebrations for the broadening of the alliance to its new members – the University of Pisa and the University of Vienna – at the signature ceremony on Friday, 25 March 2022, kindly hosted by the Mission of Norway to the European Union in Brussels.

Université Paris Cité has launched a call for project proposals geared towards teachers, researchers, students and administrative staff at Circle U. universities. Funding for this call is kindly provided by the French government (gouvernement.fr/).
As the rest of the world, the Circle U. community has been shocked by the military attacks of Russia in Ukraine. The ambition and vision of our alliance is to empower our community to mobilize knowledge for impact in order to make and keep the world healthy, prosperous, peaceful and democratic.

Now that we are halfway into the project period, we asked Chair of the Management Board Berit Eika, Secretary General Kevin Guillaume, and President Svein Stølen some easy and some difficult questions.
Our secretary general participated in the Forum of Universities for the Future of Europe, organized under the French Presidency of the EU. In the workshop on synergies between higher education and research, Kevin Guillaume explained how the academic chairs, the knowledge hubs, and the open school of public governance are making those synergies a reality.
On 3-4 March 2022, Circle U. students will be among 275 student representatives to meet in Strasbourg and discuss the future of Europe. This is a unique opportunity for our students to shape the public debate.
