The future of our alliance is almost here!

Launched in March 2022, the process "Circle U. 2030" aims at preparing the future of our alliance. It will also serve as a basis for our application to the next call for the European Universities Alliances, that is expected to be launched by the end of this year.

In the last 10 months, intensive discussions, reflections, consultations have taken place at all levels of the alliance: from rectors and presidents, students (via CUSU), project coordinators, work packages coordinators and leads to academic chairs. They have been asked to evaluate, to imagine and reimagine, to criticise, to elaborate new ideas linked to our shared vision and mission, our ecosystem and building blocks (the hubs, the open school, etc.), our mobility schemes, our collaborations, our learning and teaching opportunities, our research activities.

"Circle U. 2030" is meant to be an iterative process where each "contributor", each idea, each opinion will feed others. And there are still many consultations to take place in each university, so to ensure that all members of communities – also those that are not directly implicated in Circle U. – can take part in building the future of our alliance.

As first outcomes, we can mention the following elements. Our vision and mission have been revised to better fit the reality of our collaboration after two years but also answer most effectively the challenges of today and tomorrow.

The Management Board and Circle U. Student Union (CUSU) have discussed the possible reinforcement of Circle U.'s ecosystem, with some key "building blocks" - such as the Knowledge Hubs, the Academic Chairs, etc. They have also started to discuss how to implement (and thus finance) this ambitious joint ecosystem. The work will now continue and will move even faster in the coming weeks, so that a writing team can start working on the next application.
