Rosa Parks Legal Clinic of Human Rights

The "Rosa Parks Legal Clinic of Human Rights" has existed for several years at the Faculty of Law and has been covered a climate dimension, being involved in several strategic litigation. In the context of the clinic, students also interact with external stakeholders. The clinic has been involved in a case where the Belgian State has been condemned for climate inaction.

Internship in MA Political Science

Through extensive cooperation with public and private businesses in the Oslo area, the Department of Political Science at UiO offers its MA-students an opportunity to apply for a six-week internship at a relevant workplace. Our main objective is to help students to reflect on and articulate their own skills and competencies to prospective employers. The internship system also helps promote the relevance and high quality of our MA students to prospective employers, who seem to be more willing to hire recent graduates in permanent positions as a result.

Student led research and the involvement of external partners

The curriculum of the Department of Political Science allows for small groups of students to develop their own research and receive supervision of a faculty member. The curriculum also leaves room for individual students to write semester research papers with a core of theoretical development and less application to new empirical evidence. Moreover, several research programs that involve external partners also function as electives. Finally, the Department runs, together with South-Danish University, an MA in Public Leadership and Strategy. Lars Johannsen sums up positive and negative experiences and how these can be applicable to the Circle U. alliance.

Democracy in Schools

"Democracy in Schools" is the title of a pilot action within ERIA and Circle U. The pilot involves teachers, student teachers and researchers working together in research and development cycles. The R&D cycles have different topical starting points, such as sustainability, diversity and citizenship, and the aim is to utilize the participants' knowledge and experience to create innovative approaches to democracy in schools.
