From January 29th until January 31st, the CU.mil hosted an international conference at UCLouvain on Mobilizing Language Learners and Teachers. The event brought together different actors from the field of language learning. There was a great mix of language teachers, researchers, lecturers and students with different backgrounds, cultures and languages.

From Empowering Student Presentations with AI Tools, to exploring the potential of game-based learning, participants had the opportunity to showcase their teaching and research practices and learn about other good practices in the field of mobilizing language learners and teachers.

CU. Language Teachers’ Nexus: CU.mil’s community of practice

Friday’s session was devoted to the importance of lifelong learning and was the kick-off for a community of practice for language teachers. The Open Conversation on The Power of Teacher Collaboration set the scene by underlining the importance of communities of practice. It was followed by a ‘show and tell’ session where participants had the opportunity to discover new pedagogical approaches and good practices. At the end of the ‘show and tell’ session, participants could choose one of the good practices to try out in their classes and could register for a community of practice at their home university.

The follow-up stage is under way, and it is hoped to have things up and running very soon. The CU. Language Teachers’ Nexus will be a place where Circle U. language teachers can come together to collaborate, engage in lifelong learning, and share knowledge and expertise. As part of the follow-up stage, an event is being planned for June at King's College in London to facilitate the further sharing of experiences and to pave the way for future collaborations. So, more to follow!
