Physical seminar in UCL
A key centre piece of our organisation is the physical seminars, and on the 27th to 29th of May we had our latest physical seminar, on the UCL campus in Louvain-la-Neuve. The seminar was held in such a way that it would be conjoined with the following Management Board Workshop and General Assembly. During this we worked on the following subjects:
Collaboration with CU.mil and CU.til
With the seminar being held in UCL, it was an easy choice to invite CU.mil and CU.til to meet CUSU. Until the seminar, CUSU only had limited communications with these through the WP’s. It was both informative and enriching for the representatives to meet and talk with them directly. We expect this closer collaboration to foster an even better dialogue between us.
Two new position papers
During our last physical seminar in Aarhus, we decided to aim for a position paper every two months, on average. Since then, we have made position papers on Seamless Mobility and Course quality and credits.
During this seminar, we finalised and approved two additional position papers on the Open Campus and Student Fellows. These papers will act as guidelines and formal recommendations for the two aspects of the alliance.
Internal structuring
During each seminar, we bid welcome and farewell to student representatives. Due to this, it is always a point of our physical seminars to restructure and redistribute the tasks.
Possible collaboration with ESU
We invited a representative from ESU to have an online talk about how ESU and CUSU could support each other. This would mostly mean ESU sharing best practices from different alliances, and CUSU giving recommendations for ESU in representing the interests of students in university alliances throughout the EU.
Preparation for the Management Board and General Assembly
During this MB workshop, a main focus was the sustainability and durability of CUSU inside Circle U. as its members come and go.
What to expect next
Work in Circle U organs and active collaboration both ways
With all these productive talks and improved coordination, we intend to continue our work with the Work Packages, CU.mil, CU.til, Open Campus board, etc.
With these collaborations follows a variety of plans and anticipations, and in order for us to be as productive as possible we intend to make exchanges between CUSU and all Circle U. entities as simple and pertinent as possible. We are of course open to any suggestions regarding this.
The two next position papers
With the inputs that we have received we have decided that our next two position papers will be on Inclusivity and diversity and the AI hub.
These papers are expected to be ready and published during September. After these, we will of course start working on new subjects, which we would like your inputs on. While there are lots of possible topics, we would like to work on the ones that are most important for the alliance.
