Even though most Circle U. activities are open to all partners, targeted bilateral visits could also be an important building block of the alliance in the years to come. This was one of the takeaways for a small group from the Cardiovascular Network at Aarhus University2s Faculty of Health. They recently traveled to Paris to explore possible collaborations with their French counterparts.
In an article for the Aarhus University webpage, the researchers describe the outcome of their trip. Associate Professor Morten Schmidt explains, "established a good connection over several meetings with the head of the cardiovascular epidemiology programme in Paris. Together, we intend to launch a research project that will hopefully be the first of several collaborative projects between our groups in Aarhus and Paris, and we2ve already made great progress in our plans for funding".
Besides the new research project, a PhD student from Aarhus is pursuing a research stay in Paris as a direct result of the trip: "If it all works out, I'll have the chance to go there and work on something that closely resembles the research I do in Denmark. The researchers in Paris don't just think that the alliance is a good idea - they also intend to use it for specific goals. They take it very seriously, with research of international standard," says PhD student Andreas Bugge Tinggaard.
