The intersectoral mobility fellowships are aimed at early-career researchers from Circle U. universities who wish to connect with an associated partner of the alliance or another external, non-university organisation located in one of the Circle U. countries, including the UK.
The call specifically targets PhDs and Postdocs working at a Circle U. university. Please note that PhD students and Postdocs employed at King’s are not eligible for funding.
The aim for the participants should be to develop their professional network and skills.

About this programme
Preconditions
- Invitation by at least one contact person at the host organisation in a leading position (group leader, head of department, etc.)
- Employment at one of the Circle U. universities (including the period of your visit)
- Consent of the superior concerning the leave
Length of stay
The fellowships are awarded for stays of at least 5 days of stay and a maximum of 30 days of stay.
Scholarship
The grant amounts to EUR 250 fixed travel grant; the first 10 days of mobility, the participant receives EUR 110/day, after that, EUR 90/day. The total amount of the scholarship depends on the length of stay.
The grant must be utilised before the 31st of October 2027.
PhD students or Postdocs from King’s are not eligible for funding. For any questions related to the funding of Circle U. opportunities at King’s, please contact circle-u@kcl.ac.uk.
Travel organisation
Please note that grantees must organise travel preparations on time and by themselves.
Application and selection
Application
The call opens on 28 February 2026. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis.
To apply, please send the following documents:
- a letter of motivation from the applicant outlining the motives for the mobility, an overview of the planned activities at the host institution, the concrete results of the planned stay and the expectations for the future career,
- a curriculum vitae of the applicant with academic achievements (publications, projects),
- a letter of invitation (issued by an authorised person of the host organisation),
- a letter of support (issued by the applicant's supervisor).
These four documents must be uploaded with your application in the online application form (to be published on 28 February).
Selection criteria
Grants will be awarded to the most suitable applicants on the following criteria:
- Eligibility of the application
- Feasibility of the proposed activities.
- Potential for career development.
- Strength of the support letters from both the current and host institutions.
- Overall fit with the objectives of the mobility scheme.
Selection of beneficiaries
Grantees will be selected by an evaluation committee, consisting of members from Circle U. universities, approximately 2 weeks after the application is received.
Beneficiaries may be asked to partake in a survey after their mobility.
