Funding for short research or teaching stays at Circle U. universities. Apply by 30 November 2022

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is offering early career researchers (PhD students and postdocs) funding for a research or teaching stay for up to three months in the period from January to November 2023. 

Calling PhD students and postdocs

Two possible modes of funding are available where Humboldt-Universität has to be either the hosting or the sending institution:

  1. PhD students and postdocs from Humboldt-Universität can chose one destination from one of the eight partner universities in Circle U.
    or
  2. PhD students and postdocs from one of the eight partner universities can visit Humboldt- Universität zu Berlin.

Projects in democracy, global health or climate

The call is open for all disciplines and all partner universities in Circle U. For the application to be considered, the project must be compatible with one of the three core topics of Circle U.: democracy, global health or climate.

It is not obligatory to show already existing contacts to any of the partners, but it is expected of applications to make clearly visible that the chosen destination contributes to the applicants' research project as well as the alliance.

    Mobility support

    HU will cover actual travel and accommodation costs according to the German Travel Expenses Act to a maximum of 5.000 Euros.

    Because of the dynamic situation during the pandemic situation and in case travel restrictions apply, the exchange might be started online while already being funded. When possible, the physical exchange can be taken up at a later time.

    Please submit a short abstract of the research project (one page max.), a preliminary travel plan and a expected costs to Dr. Klaus Wiehl (klaus.wiehl@hu-berlin.de) by 30 November 2022.

    Applications will be evaluated by a Circle U. selection committee.
