Why applying for BRIDGE?

BRIDGE is not just training—it's about building a community.

This programme is part of the Circle U. ED&I initiative which supports projects promoting equity, diversity and inclusion.
It brings together early-career researchers who share the experience of navigating academia from diverse backgrounds. Together, with expert mentorship, we are building the support network we wish we'd had from the start. Selected participants will receive training on intersectional mental health, conflict resolution, inclusive leadership, and advocacy, as well as co-create a podcast. They will become part of a European network of young researchers within the Circle U. Alliance.

What makes BRIDGE different?

This programme centers the lived experiences of researchers from underrepresented and marginalised groups. Your experiences of discrimination, exclusion, or systemic challenges are not obstacles to overcome alone—they are shared expertise that allows us to learn from each other. Through facilitated peer exchanges, ongoing mentorship, and informal coffee hours, you will find a safe space to discuss real challenges with people who truly understand.

What will you do if you decide to join?

As part of the Advocate programme you will commit to:

  • Attend a monthly training session online (2,5 to 3hours) from January to July 2026 with your peers and mentors.  Topics include mental health and intersectionality, recognising and addressing discrimination, conflict management, inclusive leadership, and advocacy strategies.
  • Organise AT LEAST one local awareness event at your university (with BRIDGE team support)
  • Contribute your perspective to creating the toolkit or podcast according to your interests

This is your community. Your voice matters. Your experience counts.

Who is it for?

Master's students involved in research, PhD candidates, postdocs, or early-career researchers at Circle U. universities who identify with the programme or experience aspects of diversity and want to connect with peers who share similar experiences in academia.

BRIDGE Advocates are volunteers ready to dedicate 3 hours each month to the programme.

How to apply?

Please submit your application to become a BRIDGE Advocate before the 15th of January.
