Université Paris Cité hosted the latest edition of the Rethinking Global Health Summer School. This intensive week brought together PhD students, academics, and experts from our partner universities to explore key topics in global health— including health metrics, the past and future of globalised medicine, migration and mental health, and the challenges of health promotion in a global context.

An Interdisciplinary and Inter-University Experience
Each day began with a shared breakfast, encouraging informal conversations and new connections, followed by a dynamic mix of lectures, participatory workshops, case studies, debates, and poster presentations delivered by the participants themselves.
I would say that, it's a really, nice experience that I would advise, every PhD student to apply because you learn so much. It's like an adventure because you are going to dig into a topic that is not necessarily related to your field.
Luizq Witzel Faria, King’s College London
The success of this Summer School also lies in the diversity of the participants’ academic profiles and backgrounds. Students in medicine, sociology, economics and public health worked together to understand better complex global health challenges.
I think my favorite part so far was to exchange on so many disciplines and with colleagues from all over Europe or even other countries. This interdisciplinary point of view is very unique and important, especially in the field of global health.

A Week of Learning Across Campuses - and Beyond
The diversity of Université Paris Cité’s campuses added to the experience, with sessions held at both the Grand Moulin site, along the Seine in the 13th arrondissement, and the centrally located Odéon campus in the 6th. The program also extended beyond the classroom: a visit to the Museum of the History of Immigration offered new perspectives and tied in closely with a session on migration and inequality
Throughout the week, students also had the chance to explore the city and enjoy its cultural richness. From the welcome cocktail at Galerie Saint-Germain to the festive closing dinner cruise along the Seine, social moments added a unique dimension to the experience—strengthening bonds and creating lasting memories.
