Course description

The Summer School provides a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration between academics and students, delving into a wide range of topics. Participants will explore pressing issues such as the current challenging geopolitical context of global health, health inequalities across local and global levels, health prevention programmes implementation, the challenges faced by vulnerable populations, gender dynamics, NGOs perspectives, and the evolution from colonial medicine to the concept of planetary health. We will also introduce discussions on cutting-edge advances, including artificial intelligence and innovative technologies that are shaping the future of global health. All these questions will be addressed with interdisciplinary perspectives.

The summer school will include:

  •   2 online sessions: the first will introduce the Knowledge Hub, the participants and the learning objectives of the Summer School. The second one will revolve around a critical discussion on a specific topic.
  • Onsite courses from 28 June to 2 July in Paris: the students will be expected to actively participate in group discussions, moderated posters presentation and share their approach on global health during the seminars planned over the week.

  • Day 1: Health metrics, priorities and allocation of health resources
  • Day 2: A global perspective on resource allocation and health access: the interplay between the system and the individuals
  • Day 3: NCDs & global health Challenges in health promotion: from research to action in different contexts
  • Day 4: Migration and mental health
  • Day 5: From colonial medicine to planetary health: the past and future of globalised medicine
