Circle U. stands with Ukraine

As the rest of the world, the Circle U. community has been shocked by the military attacks of Russia in Ukraine. The ambition and vision of our alliance is to empower our community to mobilize knowledge for impact in order to make and keep the world healthy, prosperous, peaceful and democratic.

These military attacks are one of the most serious threats to world peace we have been witnessing in the last decades in Europe. Our thoughts and solidarity go to the Ukrainian people, in particular our fellow professors, researchers, staff members and students.

Circle U. partner universities are working with several partner universities in Ukraine, including Taras Shevchenko University Kyiv, Ivan Franko University Lviv and Odessa National Medical University. We want to reiterate our support to our colleagues.

Currently, Circle U. partner universities are hosting several hundreds of Ukrainian professors, researchers, students to which we will bring all our support in this terrible situation.

Some universities have published a list of academics and researchers whose expertise could help to analyse the situation:

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin has already indicated that, in the framework of their programme “Refugees Welcome @ HU” and their participation in “Scholars at risk” network, the university will provide intensive visa support as well as social and economic support to Ukrainian academics and students. Other similar initiatives will follow in the forthcoming days. More information on the Humboldt-Universität website.
