Four collaborative project ideas on the rise
The November session of the Sandpits reconvened with a key-note talk on interdisciplinarity by Professor Stuart Taberner, Director of the Horizons Institute, University of Leeds, UK. During the Sandpit, ideation sessions gave rise to four collaborative project ideas. These ideas were pitched to a panel of senior academics and external partners, including the Academic Chair of the Circle U. Global Health Knowledge Hub, Prof. Sandy Tubeuf (UCLouvain), and the Vice-Rector for Climate & the Environment and Cross-Disciplinarity, University of Oslo, Prof. Mette Halskov Hansen.
The invited external stakeholders were represented by Ms. Lina Christensen, Central Denmark EU Office, Dr. Amaury Peeters, Leuven Cooperation NGO and Ms. Ragnhild Solvi Berg, Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills Brussels Office.
Conference on Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Research for Sustainable Development
The Sandpit participants were invited to take part in the second edition of the Annual Conference on Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Research for Sustainable Development, organized at UCLouvain on 25 November 2022. The conference brought together around 150 participants and offered presentations and discussions on the theoretical, methodological and societal challenges of inter- and transdisciplinary research in academia and beyond. Eight Sandpit participants presented their research at parallel thematic sessions.
Seed funding scheme
Currently, the Circle U. alliance is developing an ad hoc seed funding scheme to support projects submitted by Sandpits participants. This scheme was set up in response to the need for specific seed funding expressed by participants at the September Sandpits round. The call for proposals is expected to be launched in 2023.
