Communicating Climate Science

The summer school on communicating climate science started on 15th of August with introductory lectures. Jelena Lukovic, professor at the faculty of Geography at Univerzitet u Beogradu, made the start with her lecture on "Introduction to climate science", explaining key terminology, phenomena and findings. Senior lecturer Lars Kjerulf Peterson from Aarhus Universitet followed up and introduced the students to science communication, explaining approaches such as the "deficit model" and the "critical approach". He also emphasised that science and science communication need to be seen and understood in their societal context and that science is never free from emotion.
