Hosted by the University of Vienna, this course explores alternative forms of cultural production in modern and contemporary Anglophone literatures, from small presses to performance-as-publishing, asking how they reach audiences beyond academia and the traditional literary world and how they enable diverse and marginalised voices to share their artistic work on their own terms.

Experimental laboratories are resource-intensive and carry a significant environmental footprint. While research allows us to explore and appreciate the beauty of nature in all its forms, it paradoxically contributes to threats against life on our planet. Current practices—such as reliance on high-end equipment and short funding cycles—make change difficult. This workshop aims to bring together laboratories that have successfully implemented sustainable practices and to equip young scientists with the knowledge and tools needed to make research environments more sustainable and future-ready.

This course offers an in-depth exploration of mixed-methods research (MMR), combining qualitative and quantitative approaches to better understand language, communication, and learning. Through online modules, in-person workshops, and a collaborative project, students will learn to design rigorous studies integrating diverse data collection and analysis tools. Special attention is given to collaboration as a research practice, as well as to the epistemological foundations of methodological integration.

This course will introduce you to the major theoretical and empirical approaches to the study of sustainable development, including the contested nature of the sustainable development discourse at global and national levels.

This master's level course introduces several approaches to discourse analysis and their central analytical categories, focusing specifically on the relationship between discourse analysis and democratic processes.

In a time of growing threats to individual liberties and distrust in science, this series highlights the importance of Academic Freedom for democracy, public health, human rights, and sustainability. Through readings, expert lectures, and discussions, students will explore current debates linking science and society while strengthening critical thinking. Application are open until 15 September.

This three-day interdisciplinary workshop, taking place in Pisa from 21 to 23 October, explores one of the major societal challenges facing Europe: demographic ageing. Through expert talks, collaborative problem-solving, and innovation-focused activities, students will gain insights into the opportunities and challenges of promoting healthy ageing in increasingly ageing populations.

Educational equity and equality are key goals for a sustainable society, inclusion, and democracy. Yet, research on educational equality and equity is fragmented, and there is a need to gather and clarify concepts, theories, methods, and evidence for further research.

This course focuses on the critical interdependencies and synergies between the humanities and medicine in enhancing sustainable social change.

The course aims to provide a platform for students from different countries and disciplines to come together and examine powerful concepts that frame public health policy, such as sustainability, well-being, equity, partnership, and empowerment.
