As part of this year's Erasmus Days, Circle U. is organising two online sessions to help you discover what our European University Alliance has to offer.

In a Circle U. collaboration during the summer term 2026, master’s students from Agronomy and from English Education - two disciplines that rarely work together - joined forces across borders to turn specialist research into an educational resource for the next generation, putting the valuable work of knowledge transfer into practice. In just a few months, an idea from a Circle U. matchmaking event became a completed international collaboration connecting research, education and society.

Matchmaking, playful challenges, a Design Sprint, and three brand-new course concepts. That's how UCLouvain spent two days hosting Circle U.'s Academic Matchmaking Event on 7–8 September. Around ten academics from across the alliance turned first conversations into real course ideas: from AI and democracy to poetry and narrative medicine. The University of Belgrade successfully hosted the international interdisciplinary Summer School “AI and Society in a Transforming World.” Organised within the framework of the Circle U. European University Alliance, the event brought together doctoral students and professors from leading European higher education institutions.

EAIE, one of Europe’s most important meeting places for international higher education, brought together more than 7,300 professionals from over 100 countries in Glasgow last week. Through its contributions to the conference programme, Circle U. played an active role in discussions on student engagement, entrepreneurship, impact assessment, and how European university alliances can secure a sustainable future beyond project-based funding.

What happens when researchers start thinking like entrepreneurs? At the University of Vienna’s Venture Creation Summer School, PHD students explored entrepreneurial thinking, opportunity discovery and value creation.

Erasmus+ has awarded EUR 400,000 to the project Sustainable Health Sciences & Humanities. Bringing together three Circle U. universities, the initiative will develop an interdisciplinary educational programme that prepares students to address pressing global health challenges.

A Circle U. summer school is an exciting opportunity to travel and study a topic from diverse academic angles. From 3 to 7 August, the blended programme “Empowering Climate Action” took place in Berlin – and left participants, lecturers and staff with some lasting insights.
